he catalytic performance of a system consisting of Zr (OR)4 and alkyl aluminium chloride for the preparation of linear lower a-olefinesby oligomerization of ethylene was studied. It was discovered that thiskind of catalyst possessed high activity but lower selectivity for C and linear a-. The selectivity could be improved by adding some R3P,but the catalytic activity was decreased markedly. The modification of above-mentioned system by three typical tertiary phosphines was compared. The effect of chlorine content in alkyl aluminium chloride on catalyst performance was investigated. The catalysis of Zr (OEt)2 Cl2/Et2AICI for the oligomerization of ethylene was observed too. It was found that the alkoxy in zirconium complexes and chlorine content inalkyl aluminium chloride related to the catalyst performance directly.
