n situ Mossbauer spectroscopy has been used to study the surfaceoxidative properties of Fe2O3/γ-Al2O3, Fe2O3-La2O'3/γ-Al2O3 and Fe2O3/La2O3/γ-Al2O3 during H, desorption and CO chemisorption. The resultsshow that the addition of La2O3 to Fe2O3/γ-Al2O3 catalyst results in partial coverage of the supported Fe crystallites with LaOx. The moietyblocks which are probably exchanged into iron oxide crystal lattices prevent iron oxides from transferring into Fe2O3 crystal lattices. So Fe2O3/γ-Al2O3 catalyst with added La2O3 can not form Fe3O4 phase during H2desorption and CO chemisorption.
