ZnO-NaZSM-5 catalysts with different ZnO loadings (0~17%)have been prepared by impregnation method. Physico-chemical properties of the catalysts are characterized by XRD, IR, XPS, MAS NMRand TPD techniques. At low Zno loadings up to 8. 3%, ZnO exists inhighly dispersed state which is non-detectable by XRD. At higher ZnOloadings, crystalline Zno particle can be observed. The highly dispersedZnO, existing in a form of oxide cluster, can exist either on the externalsurface or in the pore system of the zeolite, but crystalline ZnO existsonly on the external surface. 23Na MAS NMR result suggests that Na+in the zeolite participates in the formation of the cluster, while theframework vibration spectra show a strong interaction between theframework oxygen and the cluster.
