An outbreak of epidemic encephalitis B,involving 9 countrysides and towns,had occurred dur-ing July to October l991.146 people were attacked and l6 patients dead. The mobidity rate and fatality rate were 58.7/l00 000,10.96%respectively. The mobidity rate(85. 85%)was the highest in the group of schoolchildren less than l5 years old. A strain virus of encephalitis B was isolated from brain tissue of Hirun-do rustica captured under eaves of a primary school.
