AbstractOrganic electroluminescent(EL) device with a new trivalent terbium(Tb) complex as an emitter was fabricated, the material has high efficient photoluminescence(PL), its molecular formulas is Tb (AcA)3 Phen (AcA: acetylacetone; phen: o-phenanthroline).The cell structure was glass substrate/In-SnO (ITO)/hole transport diamine/Tb complex/AI which were fabricated by means of vacuum deposition. It exhibits bright EL with sharp emission lines of Tb3+upon applying dc voltage. The brightness of the OEL cell with TI(AcA)3 Phen as emitter is about 200cd/m2 mush higher than that reported in Ref. 3.
