Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy with stablized martensite has a so-called unusual heating de-formation on heatmg.AccOrding to the structural analyses from the resu lts of X-ray diffraction andelectron diffraction,it is seen that when the stablized martnsite is heated,the atoms on the basic planes of martensite tend to rcach 90°and the unit cell of martensite shrinks.in addition , this is an ir-reversible process,A model for the unusual heating deformation of stablized martensite is brought out and the mechanism is discussed.
