A 500cm2 working electrode plate filter press-type chlor-alkali cell was assembled with a porous diffusion oxygen cathode, which replace the current iron cathode,a RuOx/Ti anode and a Nafion 901 ion exchange membrane. The effects of electrode working current density on cell voltage, polarization of anode and cathode and membrane voltage drop were studied with O2 or humidified air as de-polarizer. The alkali formation current efficiency were tested.The experiments have given the following results.When the cell was operated at the 200mA/cm2 cutrent density at 80~90℃. The cell voltage is between 2. 3~2.5V.The alkali formation current efficiency can reach 94~95%. The D.C.consumption is 1700±50kW·h/t NaOH, lower than that of ion membrane chlor-alkali cell with hydrogen evolution cathode about 400~500kW·h/t NaOH.
