In this paper,four fractions of xanthan gum with different molecular weight determinedby SALS technique were prepared by ultrasonication. Taking these fractions as standards, thevarious average molecular weight of natural xanthan, M_n=1.41×10~6,M_w=3.08×10~6,M_v=2.80×10, M_z=6.65×10~6, were obtained by GPC in 0.80M NaCl aqueous solution. Themolecular weight distribution index D and intrinsic viscosity of native xanthan werecalculated as 2.18 and 2049.5mL/g respectively.
