本文从视频压缩技术的发展过程出发，介绍了当今国际上数字压缩编码的重要标准──ＭＰＥＧ－２标准，并对ＭＰＥＧ－２标准中的各种组合进行了详细说明。
This paper starts from the history of video compression technology,introduces the important international digital compression coding standard─MPEG-2 standard, and gives a detailed presentation of 'levels'and 'profiles' combinations of MPEG-2 standards.
