１９９４年６月，西、北江发生了特大洪水，北江芦苞站洪峰水位１２．４４ｍ，超历史最高水位０．７３ｍ；三水水文站洪峰水位１０．３９ｍ，超历史最高水位０．４８ｍ；西江马口水文站洪峰水位１０．０６ｍ，超历史最高水位０．４３ｍ；西、北江三角洲潮洪混合段的洪峰水位普遍达５０年一遇，个别站接近或略超２００年一遇。由于洪水预报准确及时，佛山市的各级党政领导高度重视，指挥有力，措施得当，全市党政军警民团结奋战，保住堤围，取得了抗击特大洪水的胜利。
Abstract:In June, 1994, a catastrophic flood took place in Xijiang River and Beijiang River. The peak stage in Lubao Station of Beijiang River reached 12. 44m, which was 0. 73m higher than historical highest water level; the crest stage in Shanshui Hydrologic Station rose to 10. 39m, 0. 48m more than the histroical highest water level; the peak stage in Makou Hydrologic Station hit 10. 06m, 0. 43m more than the historical highest water level. The peak of flood in the tide and flood occuring reston of Xijiang River and Beijiang River Delta reached 50-year flood event, a few stations approaching or slightly exceeding 200-year flood event. Beacuse the forecast was accurate and timely, and the authorities at all levels in Fushan City paid full attention to it and took appropiate measures, the people from all lines worked together to fight the eventual flood and finally prevent the embankment from breaking.
