自80年代以来,中国的民航机场建设出现了前所未有的发展局面.1979年～1994年共新建、改扩建机场近60个.到1994年底,我国民用航班机场总数119个,其中4E类机场13个,4D类机场28个,4C类机场31个,其余47个为3C类机场.在这些机场中,23个为已在国际民航组织注册的国际定期航班、国际不定期航班及国际定期航班备降机场.全国民航机场的布局更趋完善、合理.1994年,我国民航机场旅客吞吐量为7859万人.根据我国民航2000年发展规划。

By 2000, the passenger throughput of all civil airports will be 170 million, increasing at 18.8% of average annual growth rate .To meet growing traffic demand, by 2000 China plans to build 13 new province capital airports: Wuhan (completed), Shijiazhuang (completed), Guiyang, Guilin, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Nanjing, Haicou, Hangzhou, Nanchang and Yinchuan and expand Chengdu, Urumqi, Harbin, Xiamen, Lanzhou , Taiyuan , Shenzhen , Xi' an , Shenyang, etc .In current years, the exchange and cooperation in airport construction between China and foreign government and enterprises increase with years. The terminal concepts designs of Beijing/Capital, Shanghai/Hongqiao, Sanya/Fenghuang, Haicou/Meilan and Nanjing were undertook by foreign companies by means of international bid . In 1994 China introduced 196 airport support equipment with $ 34. 5 million from US and Europe and the figure will be $ 48.2 million in 1995.Currently, a total of approved airport projects fund is more $ 3600 million including $ 2410 million during 'Ninth Five-year' plan. To encourage foreign investors to enter China market, China worked out incentive policies. China hopes foreign investors to participate China airports construction through government loans or direct investment.
