Ｊ．Ｒ．ＣＡＮＮＯＮ与Ｐ．ＤＵＣＨＡＴＥＡＵ讨论了半无界域上双曲型方程确定未知源的反问题。本文用特征线方法在有界域上给出了上述反问题解的存在唯一性。

J.R.CANNON and P.DUCHATEAU discussed the inverse problem of the equation utt-uxx=s(u) to determine an unknown source s(u).We used the method of characteristic curves in the bounded domain to get the existence and uniqueness of the solution for the above inverse problem.
