本文介绍了西江洪水灾害，防洪要求，洪水组成。西江水系只有龙滩水库有５０～７０亿ｍ￣３的防洪库容，可对干流洪水进行总体控制。和下游岩滩水库联合，可对梧州洪水起到巨大的削峰作用。文中重点介绍１９９４年６月特大洪水的组成，龙滩水库可能发挥的巨大作用，及对其他几次大洪水的削峰作用。

This article introduces the historical flood disasters,the requirement for floodcontrol as well as the compostion of flood on the Xijiang River. Longtan Reservoir is the onlyone on the Xijiang water system which can perform overall flood control for the main stem ofthe river with 5-7 billion cu. m reserve storage for flood control,and combined with theYantan Reservoir downstream,the reservoir can reduce flood peak to a great deal for theWuzhou city. The article emphasizes the composition of the extreme severe flood in June1994,and the potential outstanding function of Longtan Reservoir for flood control as well asthe performance of peak reduction for other recorded severe floods.
