摘要
桂花是原产于我国的观赏植物和香料树种。它的花期短暂,一般约5-8天,最佳观赏期和采花期只有2-4天。桂花花色有近乳白、柠檬黄、金黄、橙红,因品种而异,花色本身也有淡→浓→淡的变化,因此品种检定工作应在头茬花的盛花期内进行。其花香属于一种甜清花香的香型。丹桂的花色虽鲜艳,但花香中含有多环芳香烃类化合物,不可多用。桂花开花以当年生新梢为主。其花量多少与母梢数、发枝力、腋花芽数、每个腋花芽内平均小花朵数以及百花重等指标的高低有关。当前,应着重在银桂类和金桂类系统中,筛选优良的观赏与采花并用的品种。同时,还应注意加强某些品种优良性状的定向培育工作。
Sweet Osmanthas ( Osmanthus fragrans Lour. ) is originated in China and has been used as an ornamental and scent plant.

There are several flower colors of the cultivars , and their colors change in the blooming period. The identification of cultivars should be started during the first batch of blooming.
The flower has a fragrance of light sweetness, The flowers of orange osmanthus have a showy color, but the fragrance contains polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon,which can not be used so often as an essence.
The flowers set mainly on the annual shoots.The total yield of flo-wers are related to the number of canes, their sprouting activities , the number of axillary flower buds, the florets of each inflorescence and the weight per hundred florets.
Screening for some cultivars from the strain of golden and silver osmanthus is needed which will be suitable both for ornamental and economic purposs, Also, we have to do some further breeding work to get more promising characters,
