This paper described a highiy sensitive chromogenic reaction of Ge(IV) with o-hydroxy-naphthyl fluorone and DDMBA in the hydrochloric acid medium(0.32～1.6mol/L HCl).Themolarratio of the Ge(IV)to β-HNF in the complex is 1:3 and its molar absorptivity is 1. 56 ×10￣5 L· mol￣(-1).cm￣(-1) at 500nm. Beer's law is applicable in the range of 0～14μg/14μg/25ml for germanium. The method has been used for the determination of Ge(IV) in ore and slag without any separation with satisfactory results.
