his peper introduces the method of automatic dimensioning by using the perameterization design module PLTOOL of MICROSTATION. Characters are treated as the view of a part and their graph description file is created dynamically. What users are needed to do for the realzation of the dimension function is only to add a dimension description file to the module. The method is recommendable to other CAD softwares and provides an easy way to the one Of MICROSTATION.
