China has become the world＇s fifth offshore coal mining country, having joined England, Japan. Canada and Australia in the hunt for black diamonds under the seabed. The Shandong Longkou Mining Group was the first to try this challenging method of extracting nature＇s wealth, and used advanced technologies to locate and pull its first chunk of coal. Plenty more will follow. The company has demonstrated China＇s ability to carry out the tough task of offshore mining, and advanced nations would do well to watch the newcomer that＇s about to set this field on fire.
