《哀郢》“夏首”、“西浮”考辩

The Discriminate on "Xiashou" and "xifu" in Sorrow of Ying

后人对王逸《楚辞章句.哀郢》“夏首,夏水口”之说多有误解,因而造成聚讼纷纭,致有“夏水口”为“入江之口”和“别江之口”之争。本文结合文献材料详加考证,认为“夏水口”即“夏首”;“西浮”即“自西向东漂浮”。王逸旧说未可轻易。

This article mainly discusses the two words “Xiashou” and “xifu” in Sorrow of Ying ,and points out that the later generations have misapprehended“ Xiashou” and “ the mouth of Xia shui ” in Chu Ci Zhang Ju noted by Wang Yi. They dispute with each other on the explanation of “Xiashou”. Some one insists that it is the “estuary of entering Xia River” and others argue that it is the “estuary of departing Xia River” ,unable to decide which is right. After making certain literature search,the author suggests that “the mouth of Xia shui ” is “Xiashou” and “xifu” is “floating from west to east”. Wang Yi＇s explanations about “Xia shui kou” and “xifu” should not be sloppily changed.
