美国现实主义小说家约翰.斯坦贝克的短篇小说《约翰尼大熊》多方位使用不同的叙述人,形成一个多层次立体交叉的叙述人网络。通过对各种叙述视角的分析,可以发现所有眼光汇聚之处,恰恰缺失了被叙述人自己的视角。他者的眼光构成了对被叙述人霍金丝姐妹的围困,间接导致艾米.霍金丝上吊自杀。作者用叙述形式象征性地阐述了鲁迅先生所说的眼光也可以杀人这样一个残酷的社会现实,取得叙事形式与内容的一致。
