The technical modifications to the purification process in sulphurie-aeid making at Shaoguan Smelting Works, and the operating conditions of the equiprnent after the modification are described in the paper. The modifications were conducted by adopting three “towers”, namely an empty column, a dynamic wave washer, and a packed column, using a two-stage electrical demister, and employing a two-stage indirect cooler. The purification process operated steadily and the purification efficiency improved markedly after the modification.
