Objective To observe the effects of test conditions on the subjective visual vertical (SVV), establish the method of SVV test, obtain its normal value, so as to provide experimental basis for evaluation of otolith function. Methods Effects of different test conditions including length, initial position of light bar, the distance from light bar to subject on SVV were observed, SVV value tested with dark room mode, light room mode, under 1 G and hypergravity stimulus were compared. Results No Significant effect of test conditions mentioned above on SVV was observed, and the difference between the SVV tested with dark room and light room mode were nonsignificant. The distribution of SVV value tested under 1 G were relatively concentrated, the bias varied between -3.0° to 3. 0° from the gravitational vertical (GV). The SVV value tested under hypergravity were not coincident with GV, and was highly related with the GIF angle with respect to the subject, and the distribution of SVV value were scattered in a more wide range than that under 1 G. Conclusion SVV tested both with dark room mode and light room mode under 1 G is an accurate, stable and easily obtainable parameter for evaluation of the otolith function.
