Elaborations on the historical development of Chengkan Zhongchuan Literati Union have been made through the introduction of four versions of preface and union regulations at different stages. In addition, fallacies found in Literati Unions in Chengkan concerning some of its interpretations of Zhongchuan Literati Union have been rectified. It is maintained that the literati unions in Chengkan and even Huizhou at large have played a significant role in the effort to inherit as well as develop the fine local traditions of valuing civilization and promoting education, prizing talent cultivation and im-proving the overall quality of the populace, many of which can be used as very good references for contemporary people. And that accounts for exactly the purpose and significance of this historical review.
