The concept of world society occupied a key position in the development of theEnglish School, nevertheless, within the theoretical framework of the School, ithas neither been elaborated consistently nor explored systematically. And this becomes a main theoretical shortcoming of the School. By examining the concept of world society, this paper analyzes the four theoretical revisions of the English School by Buzan, and explores the 'future development agenda' of the School.
