摘要
将水平风速分解为无辐散(有旋)分量和辐散(无旋)分量,然后将北太平洋高压(NPH)中心处一点(35°N,130°W)和西太平洋低压处Darwin站(10°S,130°E)之间的流函数距平/速度势距平之差定义为北方涛动指数(NOI),分析了该指数与其他一些传统指数的相关性和差异,并讨论了该指数在气候过程分析中的若干应用。
The horizontal wind velocity can be decomposed into nondivergent (rotational) component and divergent (irrotational) component, and the Northern Oscillation index (NOI) is defined as the difference between the stream function/velocity potential anomalies at the North Pacific high center (35°N, 130°W) and the Darwin station (the western Pacific low) (10°S, 130°E). In this paper, the correlation and difference between NOI and other traditional indices are analyzed,and some applications of NOI in analyzing climatic process are discussed.
