Raw coal and clean coal samples were collected from 17 coal washeries distributed over three provinces and one municipality of south-western China. Ash yield, Fluorine and Arsenic were determined, and their removal ei.i.iciencies achieved through conventional coal cleaning were discussed. Although there is variability in Fluorine and Arsenic reductions, the data suggest that coal cleaning techniques may be useful in reducing trace element concentrations in selected coals.
