在中国走向近代的历史进程中,有两位伟大的先行者,那就是出生在云南的郑和与曾任云南姚安知府的李贽。郑和七下西洋,虽不像后来的西方航海家那样,完全是适应着欧洲资本主义的发展而为开辟海外市场的需要,但这一壮举,同样是建立在当时中国商品经济和手工业生产发展的基础之上,反过来,又必然引发国内商品经济和手工业的加速发展,促进社会经济形态的转化,即由封建向近代的迈进。李贽反封建压迫反传统思想的人文主义的启蒙思想,撕开了当时虽日趋腐朽而仍层层叠叠的封建天幕的一道裂隙,为窒息的社会透进一丝阳光和清新空气,为中国社会由封建向近代迈进作了舆论准备。
