Joseph S. Nye went to East Africa and Central America to study integration and, through comparing the integration process there with that in Europe, found certain limitation and deficiency of neo-functionalism. His unique contribution is in proposing a multi - dimensional concept of integration, modifying neo - functionalist concepts of “spillover”and “politization”, and establishing a new model of integration, namely the Nye Model, which provides a more explicit theoretical framework for analyzing the process, potential and limitation of integration.
