Withholding sex from men until peace is declared, Lysistrata and her Greek sisters are praised as peace-fighters and a classic example of transcendence. From the feminist perspective, the article rereads woman characters for their common characteristics and the individuality of each character, only to find incarnate in the peace-fighter a real image of the Other, and that the seemingly transcendental sexual strike merely suggests women＇ s deeper trap into immanence.
