This paper analyses the tragic fate of Oedipus, the relation between Oedipus and Jocaste, and the translation of the title of the tragedy. With the analysis, the article points out： 1 ）. the fate of Oedipus is attributed to Laius＇ error; 2）.Jocaste is the stepmother of Oedipus and hasn＇ t any child for him ; 3）. the Chinese translation of the title of the tragedy is an inappropriate.
