NUMBERS AS USED IN WRITING AND COMPUTING

数字与数码在一般情况下常常不加区别而混用．本文从记数法角度对它们进行区分，对数字与数码的起源、记数的表达形态、进位基数的选择、进位的表示方法以及数字与数码的相互影响和发展趋势等方面作了阐述，指出区别数字与数码在数学史研究中的作用，并以中外有代表性的记数方法为例加以说明．

n general,number symbols in word and in computions are used by sam word -numberal,but in fact,they are different in some respects. It is important to differentiate them for studying of numeration. This paper shows the differences in their origins, in their forms of the symbols, in their carry numbers, in their methods of the carry,and illustrates by numerations used in China and abroad,ancient and modern.
