国外从50年代开始就已大批量生产和应用PVC透明硬片,而我国则到60年代后才开始生产。虽然PVC透明硬片在我国研制和生产起步较晚,但近几年来发展还是很快的。据不完全统计,目前我国已有PVC透明硬片生产线49条,其中压延法生产线引进的有17条,国产的21条;引进的挤出法生产线有9条,年生产能力约10万吨,目前总产量约6万吨左右。 PVC透明硬片在包装方面有着广泛的应用。此外,还可作为唱片片基、装饰硬片、扑克硬片等。

China started production on PVC sheet in 1960s. Up to now, it has owned 47 lines in total, of which 38 are casting lines (17 imported and 21 home made), 9 imported extruding ones, with annual capacity of about 100,000 tons. The actual output now is 60,000 Urns per year. In 1985, a national co-operation group of economy and technology of PVC sheet was set up in China, comprising 34 factories, with its office located in Hangzhou Plastics Factory of Zhejiang Province. This article gives a brief survey of techniques and equipment of PVC sheet manufacturing by casting and extruding methods.
