The distribution of the resources of magnesium over the world and the recent situations of its manufacturing in the most important countries are introduced in this paper. The development of applications of magnesium in the field of aluminm-alloy,architecture,chemical industry, metallurgical industry and novel materials is briefly related. The prospect of supply and demand of magnesium up to the end of this century is foreseen also.
