摘要
徐建寅(1845—1901)是我国近代杰出的科学家。他的一生译书、著书共42部(篇)。本文主要叙述他勤奋治学的精神和翻译西方科技专著、引进近代科学的情况。并简要介绍他翻译的化学、天文、物理等几部西欧著作和他考察西欧工业技术后写成的《欧游杂录》及其对我国近代科学技术发展产生的作用和影响。
Xu Jianyin(1845—1901)is one of the outsanding modern Chinesescientists.His works and translations amount to 42,including 10 treatises.Ths essay mainly recounts his assiduous in doing scholarly research,hisintroduction of modern science to China and his translation of westernscientific and technical monographs.It also touches upon several importantWestern European books of chemistry,astronomy and physics that hetranslated from English,his work Random Notted Down while Trayelling inEurope that he wrote after his inspection of science and technology inWest Europe,and evaluates the influence of thesc books on the deve-lopment of modern science and technology in China.
