The aim of this paper is to study the synthesis methods of zeolite membranes on differ- ent supports, especially on a porous ceramic support.An effective process consisting of thefollowing two procedures was proposed:(1) preparation of a silica intermediate layer on thesupport by sol-gel technique;(2)synthesis of ZSM-5 zeolite membrane on the intermediatelayer by hydrothermal process. The ZSM-5 membrane was characterized by X-ray diffraction,IR spectrometry,and scanning electron microscope,The performance of the ZSM-5 membraneon the permeability of ethanol /water was also studied.
