Abstract Based on COncrete data and examples, the paper reviewed the present situation of water pollution in China. analysed the causes of deterioration of water environment and presented the preventive countermeasures. The assurances of drinking water and the treatment of industry wastewater and municipal wastewater were also proposed in the paper.
