Abstract New species. new clones and fine provenances of important industrial woodspecies , such as Cunninghamia lanceilata , Pinus tabulaeformis , Larix spp. ,Pinus yuna-nensis, Pinus massoniana, Populus spp. and Eucalyptus spp have been selected andbred out during the period of the 'Eighth Five-Year Plan' However , it' s very difficultto distinguish what is real and what is false, so there is a great confusion in the forestryproduction. The main reason is that it's not easy to tell this one from that one using themaroscopic morphological and genetical markers. An exploration was made to confirmthat DNA genetical marker is very useful to identify quickly the genetical quality of thenursery and seeds stocks. Meanwhile, the characteristics of DNA finger printing, itsapplication in forestry, and its advance in the research of forestry both domestic andabroad are described, too.
