he real direction of the particle movement can be determined when the image shifting technique is applied to the particle image velocimetry. However,the measurable scope of the particle displacement will be affected by the image shifting. In this paper, the measurable scope of the image shifting technique is analyzed in detail, and the theory for optimizing the shifting vector is presented.
