It is urgent and practical to determine reasonable thickness of thermal insulation material and volume of initially eqipped ice of box cars and gondolas in shippingperishable goods. In this way, not only thetransportation safety of goods can be guaranteed ) but also the unnecessary expenses canbe saved. The paper made an analysis and otimization on this issue from both the theoetical and practical views. The calcuationmethod thus raised has directive significancein practice.
