This paper describes the status quo and 为 the characteristics of enhanced oil recovery in USA and the Former Soviet Union.In USA,CO_2 miscible flooding has becomethe main way to increase recoverable reserves and can,according to estimation increase oil recovery by 7—22% .Polymer flooding matured and it claims 93% of the production increased by chemical flooding.In the Former Soviet Union,the injection of thick sulphuric acid,active water,alkaline water and water solutions of other chemicals supply 40% of production to the total production by EOR.These successful field application of EOR provide us with a good way to increase production.
