The title cluster compound Mo3S_7Cl(dtc)_3·S_8· 2CH_2Cl_2 was synthesized bymeans of solid state reaction at low heating temperature, with monoclinic structure:P2_1 /n,a= 1 1 780(6),b=1.5 524(4),c=2.600(6)nmMr= 1412.77,V= 4.696(nm)￣3,Z= 4,Dc=2.00 g/cm￣3,F(000)=2792,μ(MoKa )=19. 81 cm￣(-1),final R= 0.067,Rw= 0.074 for 2545 u-nique observed reflections(I≥3σ(I)).The three Mo atoms form an equilateral triangle with Mo-Mo average bond length 0.2 716 nm,and three S-Cl average bond length 0.3 068 nm.
