Abstract In 21st centuty, there are 5 major trends for world economic development which have an all round, deep- reaching and serious effect over Special Econoaic Zones (SEZ). Economic regionalismwill influence SEZs in Commodity exports,engineering contraction and arbor exports; but SEZs maymake use of their advantages and bake pert in the construction of 'Growing Triangle';World economicnitegration is beneficial for SEZs to absorbing capital and technology and exporting goods on one hadd,bUt on the othe hand,as China integrated itSelf with world economy and rejoins GATT.the problem ofunifying domotic policies will make SEZs lose their advantugos in development based on preference polices; the development of science and technology will provide SEZs with opportunities for developinghigh-tech industries, neo- tech industries and tertiary industries;the activities of TNCs are beneficialfor SEZs to introducing capital,management and high-tech and neo- tech industries, but due to lackof capital, SEas have difficulties in developing their own TNCs at the favorite time. Based on theabove analysis, SEZs should orientate on developing high-tect and neo-tect products to confirm theirknowledge-nitensive status in internattional division to tube port in the competition between the advanced countries in horizontal division and take port in competition between developing countries anddomestic market competihon in vertiCal divistion, to serve domestic economy with developed tertiary industries to promote our country 's economic growth and economic integration with world economic system.
