The structtiral unit of network and chemical state of constituent elements for theoxysulfide glasses in the system Li2S-B_2O_3-LiBr were studied by using X-ray photoelectronspectroscopy.The results indicate that sulfur in the form of S ̄(2-)participates in network for-mation of glasses as coordinated ion and the glasses with R<0.4 have no nonbridging sulfur ions. So,the binding energies(BE)of S_(2p) do not show appreciable change with the variationof modifier Li_2S content.However, when R≥0.4,BE of S_(2p) significantly decreases with theaddition of Li_2 Sthat is caused by the existence of the nonbridging sulfur ions.The bindingenergy of Li_(1s) in the glasses is found to increase gradually with the increase of LiBr dopantcontent. This implies that LiBr is only dissolved in glass matrix entering the network inter-stitially as dissociated ions,and the Li ̄(-)ions surrounded by Br ̄(-)ions mainly take part in con-duction.
