When Mckillop's method was used,oxidation of cyano-containing organic sulfidesto the corresponding stilfones with sodium perborate tetrahydrate(NaBO_3· 4H_2O)causedthe hydrolysis of cyano group.However,with our modified procedure in which the reagentsodium perborate was added in small portions at 55～65℃,sulfones and sulfoxides could beselectively obtained and the cyano group was not touched.
