With bis(trichloromethyl)carbonate as the substitute of phosgene, benzophenoneshave been prepared from benzene,chlorobenzene,toluene and N,N-dimethyl aniline. Therelation between the activities of catalysts and reactants has been studied.The preparation issafe and convenient and gives good yields.
