On the Ways to Speed up the Development of Japonica Hybrid Rice in Northern Huaihe River

回顾了淮北地区十多年来杂交粳稻示范推广的发展过程，分析了影响杂交粳稻发展的主要原因，并论述了加快该地区杂交粳稻发展的几个主要问题。

The reasons why the japonica hybrid rice has been developing very slowly in Northern HuaiheRiver were analyzed and thought as unsuitable present combinations,lack of corresponding organization andcoordination in its extension, insufficient fund for its research and technological popularization, and shortageof a sytematic research on the techniques of multiplication and seed production. The measures to be taken tospeed up the development of japonica hybrid rice in this area were suggested as breeding and selecting newsuitable combinations and building up their corresponding cultural techniques, establishing sound multiplica-tion and seed production system and studying systematically the high-yielding techniques of multiplicationand seed production.
