文章通过两种体制下矿产勘查经济运行模式的对比分析，提出了当前地勘经济体制改革的核心问题是建立具有中国特色的矿产勘查经济运行机制模式；通过对地勘单位企业化现状的分析，论述了＂外事内企＂的矿产勘查主体属性是过渡时期的客观要求，在理论上合理，在实践上可行。指出了界定地勘单位为企业属性是市场经济条件下的理性选择；通过矿产勘查需求主体的转变，需求结构的变化以及需求规模的影响因素的分析，指出了以市场需求为导向，调整地勘生产结构，压缩地勘总供给规模是实现地勘工作总供求基本平衡的根本出路；最后提出了矿产勘查成果的五种实现方式和矿产勘查经济运行的宏观调控模式及地勘费、矿产勘查投资运行体系。
