Surgical treatment of traumatic carotid-cavernous fistulas (CCF) by copper wire insertion

本文报告6例铜丝导入治疗外伤性海绵窦瘘。术后5例完全康复,1例死亡。作者介绍了用铜丝直接闭塞海绵窦瘘口并保存颅内动脉循环的手术技术。本组全部病例采用额颞部开颅,向蝶顶窦直接导入直径为0.135mm的铜丝1～2.66m。手术后全部患者杂音消失,5例手术后复查颈动脉造影窦瘘口完全闭塞,颈内动脉通畅。

6 patients with traumatic CCF were treated by copper wire insertion after a fronto-temporal craniotomy. Except one died, all the patients were recovered completely.The bruit disappeared and the carotid artery was preserved which was verfied by angiography.The operative technique was described in detail.The length of the copper wire inserted varied from 1 to 2.66m with a diameter of 0.135 mm.The main point of this procedure is to a certain the exact location of the fistula and insert the copper wire directly to the affected sinus.
