The mechanism of arterial relaxationinduced by cyclic GMP-generators was studied inrabbit aortic rings by using cyclopiazonic acid (CPA),aselective inhibitor of sarcoplasmic reticulum(SR)Ca2+-pump.CPA 30 μmol·L-1 inhibited therelaxing effects of nitric oxide(NO).nitroprussidesodium(NPS)and 8-bromo-cGMP on the aorticrings contracted by 1 μmol·L-1 phenylephrine,andthe percentages of the maximal inhibition by CPA inthe above three groups were 45%,43% and 23%respectively.In conclusion,the result further indicatedthat the enhanced activity of SR Ca2+-pump might beone of the important mechanisms for the aortic relaxa-tion induced by cGMP-generators in rabbits.
