Abstract A study of the isolation,purification and characteriZation of human proteinase inhibitor,α2-macroglobulin(α2-M)is presented.The α2-M,with a puity of more than 90%and a subunit molecular weight of 185kDa,was isolated by amnionium sulfate fractionated precipitation from human blood plasma and purified by DEAE cellulose DE52 column chromatography. It was found to be the same as the standard counterpart provided hy sigma company.This purification procedure of α2-M can be done with low cost,high efficiency and in large scale preparation.
