英语across类介副词的界态语义与动态识解

On the Boundedness and Dynamic Semantic Construal of English Proposition/Particles of Across, Through, Over and Past

本文以BNC语料库为依托分析英语介副词across、through、over和past表达运动路径概念的有界和无界(boundedness),并讨论在句子中多义介副词的识解情况。研究表明through、over、across属于双界态类型介副词,而past只表达有界路径。这是第一次对英语介副词界态类型的讨论,说明界态语义(boundedness)体现在各个词类和语法层面,并证明多义介副词在句中受到词汇、语法成分的影响而被动态识解。

Based on BNC data observation,the paper focuses on the discussion of the BOUNDEDNESS feature lexicalized in four English directional preposition/particles 'through,across,past,and over',trying to solve the puzzle as whether the conceptual meaning of 'path' expressed by these propositions/particles is specified for having or lacking an end-boundary.The research results show that both the bounded and the unbounded spatial senses are lexicalized in 'through,across,over',while 'past'refers to a spatial boundedness sense only.This research also proves the dynamic construal process of lexical meanings in an English Motion event sentence.
